Same water supply, different treatment needs: designing process water treatment solutions
Two sites can draw water from the same mains supply and need completely different treatment. A boiler house wants hardness and dissolved solids removed to protect its heat transfer surfaces. A drinks producer needs ingredient water that behaves the same way in every batch. A laboratory needs water clean enough that it never becomes a variable in a result. The water going in is the same. What each site needs coming out is not.
That’s why our process water treatment solutions start with three questions rather than a product list:
- What’s your process or application?
- What water quality does it need?
- What’s in your water now? (A recent water analysis tells us.)
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Our technical team checks your water analysis against the quality you’re aiming for, process requirements and any discharge consent limits. Then we look at the practical side: flow rates, peak demand, space, existing equipment and how much maintenance the site can realistically manage. The proposal you get back takes all of it into account.
Sometimes the answer is a single, correctly sized softener. Sometimes it’s a multi-stage system. Depending on what the analysis shows, that could involve filtration for suspended solids, iron, manganese, oil and hydrocarbons; activated carbon for chlorine and organics; pH correction; reverse osmosis; demineralisation; electro-deionisation (EDI); or other specialist technologies.
Worried about a particular contaminant, or a parameter edging over consent limits? Send us the analysis and we’ll recommend how to deal with it.

PROJECTS WE CAN HELP YOU DELIVER
We design systems for manufacturing and production processes, cooling water and boiler feed, wash water, food and beverage production (including beverage ingredient water), and pharmaceutical and laboratory use. We also design cooling tower bleed recovery systems, helping sites reuse water that would otherwise go to drain.
That means you can say yes to more of the enquiries that come your way, including the ones that sit outside your usual range.
BUILT FROM COMPONENTS WE KNOW INSIDE OUT
Wycombe Water is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of water treatment components, from Fleck and Siata valves and pressure vessels to resins, filter media and membranes. That matters when we build bespoke plant. Your system is made from parts we stock, that service engineers recognise, and that we can usually get to you the next day if something needs replacing.
The range is broad. We supply reverse osmosis systems for everything from low-flow applications to large industrial installations, along with softeners and a wide range of bespoke plant. Simple standalone unit or complex process water system, we’ll design it around your site’s requirements.

EXPERIENCE BEHIND EVERY DESIGN
We’re part of the Pollet Water Group, which has been working in water treatment for more than 40 years and operates across 14 countries. That depth of experience feeds into every proposal our team puts together.
GET A PROPOSAL FOR YOUR SITE
Send us your water analysis, along with details of the process, the water quality needed and any consent limits to be met. We’ll come back with a recommendation, whether the goal is tackling a specific contaminant, improving process water quality, cutting operating costs or helping them stay compliant.
