WRAS approved water softeners driving compliance and performance
The Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) represents far more than regulatory compliance, it’s an independent UK certification body for plumbing products and materials, helping businesses and consumers choose compliant products that keep water safe. With new enforcement powers enabling criminal charges against executives who breach environmental laws, WRAS approval has never been more critical for project success.
Pentair’s 2910 and 3900 range of commercial water softeners have achieved the coveted WRAS approval following stringent testing under laboratory conditions, providing the regulatory compliance foundation that protects both projects and reputations. These industrial-strength systems deliver capacities from 125 to 1,300 litres, engineered specifically for heavy-duty applications across manufacturing, construction, and demanding industrial environments.
The project-winning performance of our WRAS approved water softeners means saying goodbye to missed opportunities. In today’s competitive marketplace, having WRAS compliance provides the competitive edge that allows you to take on projects with confidence and deliver exceptional results. The outstanding performance ensures that regulatory requirements become project advantages rather than obstacles.
What truly distinguishes our 2025 WRAS series is the exceptional flexibility and optimal performance design. These systems can be employed individually or connected in line, with the option to link 2 to 8 vessels for optimal performance, allowing businesses to tailor their water treatment solutions according to specific needs and project requirements. This modular scalability, combined with smart regeneration technology that responds to actual usage patterns rather than predetermined schedules, delivers up to 50% reduction in salt consumption whilst maintaining continuous soft water supply.
The business impact extends far beyond compliance. Scale prevention protects boilers, dishwashers, and industrial machinery, extending equipment lifespan whilst reducing chemical usage by up to 50%. For project managers, this translates to competitive advantages through reliable operation that prevents the missed opportunities and cost overruns associated with hard water complications exactly the kind of project-winning performance that defines successful partnerships.

AFM filter media advancing sustainable filtration
AFM ng is an inert, amorphous aluminosilicate (glass) manufactured by up-cycling post-consumer green and brown glass bottles in dedicated, state-of-the-art factories designed and operated specifically for the production of activated glass water filtration media. This revolutionary approach represents one of the industry’s most significant technological leaps from traditional sand filtration to next-generation sustainable media.
AFM Glass Media is now available from Wycombe Water, suitable for pre-treatment before Reverse Osmosis or Ultra-filtration systems, as well as drinking water and wastewater treatment applications. Even cooling & heating tower applications benefit from AFM ng’s superior performance characteristics, making it the ideal alternative to existing sand filters across diverse industrial applications.
The technical advantages are compelling: AFM ng doesn’t require any start-up procedure, when starting an AFM ng filter, the media doesn’t need to be backwashed as it is 100% pre-cleaned. Operating costs remain exceptionally low with regeneration times under 10 minutes (saving water) and no need for chemicals. Certified to filter up to 1 micron with a service flow of 20m/h, the system delivers an SDI < 3 whilst requiring only a small backwash flow (30m/h), resulting in smaller pump requirements.
The hydrophobic and 100% bio-resistant properties ensure the most sustainable filtration with no channelling and clumping. AFM ng adsorbs all organic substances including oils, fats, hydrocarbons and micro-plastics, whilst remaining resistant to oxidising agents, chemicals, high TDS and salinity. The media performs effectively across high and low temperatures, maintains pH resistance, and prevents the transmission of pathogens such as Crypto.
Wycombe Water provides complete standard and made-to-measure solutions, from media to tank for your project. We offer standard valve-based AFM ng filters for typical applications, whilst larger made-to-measure projects benefit from solutions incorporating Calplas tanks. Simply provide your water analysis with necessary information, and we’ll calculate the complete AFM ng solution tailored to your specific project requirements.

IMagCat dual technology water conditioning systems
The iMagCat represents our most innovative, versatile and powerful conditioning product to date, a two-stage commercial and industrial water conditioning system that combines magnetic and catalytic treatment systems into a single housing. Whilst catalytic treatment is suitable for around 90% of the world’s potable water, it’s not suitable where the alloy can become fouled with iron or where water is already supersaturated with high levels of minerals. This development challenge led us to create dual technology, providing the most complete reaction available for calcium carbonate treatment.

Suitable for treating potable, processed, recycled or wastewater, the iMagCat delivers true green technology with no power needed, no chemicals added, no consumables to replace, and no wastewater production. This combination of environmental responsibility and operational efficiency addresses the dual pressures facing today’s water treatment professionals, regulatory compliance and cost management.
The system prolongs the life of water-using applications and heating systems, reduces limescale build-up in pipes, valves, pumps and heating elements, whilst reducing energy consumption to generate significant cost savings. With no metals leaching into the water, the iMagCat maintains water quality whilst delivering performance benefits that extend across the entire water system infrastructure.
The peace of mind factor is substantial: water stays treated for over 3 months, installation is straightforward (horizontally or vertically), and the stainless steel construction ensures minimum service of 15 years with a 10-year pro-rata warranty. Applications span from apartment blocks and commercial offices to schools, universities, leisure centres, cruise ships, maritime transport, cinemas, retail parks, restaurants, farming irrigation, and marine applications—demonstrating the versatility required for diverse commercial and industrial environments.
